Stripped Scripts® Theater Company believes that every story comes alive through collaboration between the writers, directors, actors, and audience. Whether the script is an original piece or existing work, we focus first on the text, seeking to examine what lies at the root of the story before reimagining how it might shift through a new lens. We produce theatre that is raw and honest, often stripping the boundary between actor and audience to allow the audience an active role in our storytelling. Stripped Scripts was founded by Allison Threadgold in 2014 in Santa Barbara, CA and is now headquartered in NYC.
"Stripped Scripts® feels a special connection to LIC-A as the first theater company in residence in the original gallery space. Thanks to the space at Plaxall, our company was able to find its NYC home and put on monthly play readings of new works. These readings gave Stripped Scripts®, actors and writers the chance to network through the shared experience of storytelling.
Because of the generous donation of use of the gallery as a rehearsal venue we have been able to sustainably bring two shows to full production with a third in the works for post COVID-19. Our second show was not only rehearsed in the gallery but produced and shown there to sold out houses, and it won us the 2019 NY Innovative Theater Award for Best Revival of a Play. We were also able to coordinate with the artists of LIC-A to curate a full gallery art show around the themes of the play to serve as our set. Being part of the LIC-A /Plaxall family has allowed Stripped Scripts® to grow and flourish and we are ever grateful to be a part of the community."
