The process of committing to making art is one that can feel like an unmooring. It is often a balancing act between grasping at the deepest reaches of one’s ambition and allowing for inspiration to touch us. Becoming Unbound is a celebration of the process of 14 MFA candidate artists coming into their own voices.

Together, Ris Aguiló-Cuadra (fruit bat & the flesh), Eugenie Y. Chao, Amber Doniere, Guin Ellsworth, Lia Embil, Bryan Fox, Sediq Kholdi, brandon king, Valesca LaFrance, Caitlin McDonagh, Natalie Raskin, Vee Tineo, Ari Wolff and Sachigusa Yasuda, traverse a space where they have disentangled themselves from the traditional limitations of materiality, form, and language. They have moved toward something that at once feels like a window to something new and a return to the ancestral, the primordial.
