Sign the Petition and Save the Arts in Long Island City!
Long Island City is at a crossroads...
The City’s OneLIC rezoning plan is moving toward a final City Council vote on October 29, and arts and culture have not yet been included in the plan. This rezoning affects Culture Lab LIC and the entire surrounding area north of us.
Without protections or dedicated space, the future of arts in LIC, one of the very things that made this neighborhood vibrant and desirable, is at serious risk.
We're fighting to change that...
Artists, cultural groups, and community leaders are coming together to demand that the City include real commitments to arts and culture in the OneLIC plan. This is our last chance before the vote, and we need your voice.
This is about more than zoning, it is about the future of our creative community. If we do not speak up now, the story of LIC’s incredible arts scene could be erased from its next chapter.
Although Culture Lab LIC will have a home with Plaxall, we need to take action for the entire neighborhood.
Here is the OneLIC Neighborhood Plan, and here is a PDF of what we have been asking for from the city.
Thank you for standing with us and for all you do to keep art alive in Queens.

For More Information:
As made public by Queens Community Board 2, here are the recommendations of Community Board 2 in support of the plan with conditions, with the general sentiment being the current OneLIC Neighborhood Plan proposal does not go far enough in certain areas, including the arts for community investments. Please see the Arts and Culture presentation deck here, including a map of arts and culture entities inside of the proposed zoning area. The deck addresses the severe lack of arts and culture protections, including specific recommendations of collaborative actions for developers and the city.
