Four Friday Nights,
Four Sides of the New Double LP
March 31, April 7, 14 & 21, 8-10pm
SUSS, the NYC trio known as pioneers of a musical genre they call “Ambient Country,” is staging a four night concert series at Culture Lab LIC that will feature all four sides of their latest double LP, simply titled “SUSS.” Using classic Americana instrumentation as well as loops and electronics, the band creates vivid ambient music that evokes the vastness of America from a uniquely urban perspective.
PopMatters cited the album as one of the Best Ambient Albums of 2022, going on to say that “SUSS continues to be not only the kingpins of country ambient, but also one the best bands working today.”
SUSS and Culture Lab LIC have a long-standing relationship, including co-producing the 2021 concert film “Promise Live.” Now, in celebration of SUSS’ latest release, they are working together again to create a unique four-night musical and visual experience. Night 1 of the series will feature side 1 of the double LP, titled Night Suite, a late-night adventure through the American Southwest. Night 2 will feature side 2, titled Heat Haze, as the sonic road trip heads into the blistering heat of a new day. Side 3, titled Winter Was Hard, will be featured on Night 3 as SUSS guides its audience into the heart of the storm. Night 4 will feature SUSS performing music that points in new directions of hope from side 4 of the double LP titled, Across the Horizon.
The series begins on Friday, March 31, and continues for the following three Fridays in April (4/7, 4/14 and 4/21). Tickets will be sold singly or as a package for the whole series. Admission will include the concert, beverages and complimentary SUSS merchandise for VIP attendees who subscribe to the entire series.
